Course Content

GST – Genesis and imposition!
Explain the genesis of GST, the need for its introduction and the Constitutional and legal framework under which it was introduced. Identify and describe different forms of supplies of goods and services, deemed supplies and transactions excluded from the scope of supply. Differentiate various types of supplies and identify whether a supply is inter-State or intra-State, exempt or composite supply. Critically analyse whether a given transaction is a supply and define the nature of supply.

GST – when, where, who and how much?
Identify the place of supply of a transaction, thereby pinpointing where the supply should be taxed. Determine the time of supply of a transaction, thereby identifying when the tax needs to be paid. Compute the value of the transaction on which tax needs to be paid. Identify who is required to pay the tax, either under forward charge or reverse charge.

GST – Using input tax credit
Define and explain the key concepts for the availment and utilisation of input tax credit. Critically analyse whether tax paid on purchases can be availed as input tax credit. Examine whether or when input tax credit availed needs to be reversed and the reasons thereof. Distribute the tax appropriately through an ISD and undertake the necessary compliances.
